Week of 3/28-4/1

This week in Kindergarten we are singing springtime and Easter songs! We got to "color eggs" together when we sang our song Dip an Egg. We also got to play some egg shakers along to our song Shakey, Shakey Eggs! We even counted backward and forward to ten and sang along with some Speckled Eggs. Finally, we were able to spend a few minutes watching the end of "Peter Cottontail" and singing along with his song!

We also continued working on our Carnival of the Animals book. Students have been studying the music of Camille Saint-Säens and participating in a carnival with many different animals like the Lion, Tortoise, Mules, Hens and Roosters. We have had a great time pretending to be the different animals and moving to the music. We have also learned how to describe some of the music we are hearing. We have learned the word TEMPO and know that some TEMPOs are fast and some are slow. We know the word DYNAMICS and that some dynamics are PIANO (quiet) and FORTE (loud) and sometimes can start quiet and get louder and louder and louder (CRESCENDO). Our music vocabulary is starting grow a lot and we are working on a small book using our new vocabulary to tell you about the music we hear in the Carnival of the Animals. We can't wait to share our books with you!
