So the first month of school is coming to a close and I haven't posted a SINGLE thing on my blog! I don't want to overwhelm you but here is a run down of what I am trying to do this year!
Kindergarten:
So now that you have seen a little summary of what we have been up to, look for more detailed information on SPECIFIC aspects of how I am personalizing in the classroom in the future:)

Kindergarten:
- We are sticking pretty strictly to John Feierabend's First Steps In Music curriculum.
- Keeping it experiential and play based is not only keeping the kindergarteners engaged but is also giving me better results
- We are getting so much better and more consistent at keeping a steady beat and singing on pitch
- We are using Spotlight on Music mixed with Feierabend's First Steps in Music.
- We are working on pitch/melody as well as experiencing rather than reading rhythm
- We are using Spotlight on Music to work on pitch/melody, playing and reading rhythm
- I am part of a team with one 2nd grade teacher and the art teacher trying the ArtsIntegrated approach with that particular classroom.
- Check out our Weebly site on that (Under construction will be full of little goodies soon!) http://bhartsint.weebly.com
- We have used Quizizz to do pre-assessments on reading rhythms and solfége pitches
- I am using the data from Quizizz which comes in a nice spreadsheet.
- The data is being used to create personalized music goals (more to come in the future on that)
- The students will use those goals to engage them in the learning process
- The goals will help give students a purpose and a clear path!
- We used Google Forms (assessments) to complete pre-assessments on rhythm, note reading (letter names on the staff) and music vocabulary/terms/symbols
- After analyzing the data from Google Forms, I was able to pinpoint student problem areas
- Students then conferenced with me to create a goal for this quarter in one of four areas (Rhythm, Vocabulary, Pitch Reading, Recorder (not until Q3)
- Students will use these goals to stay engaged, have a purpose and a path! Empowered Learning!
- We use a Must Do/May Do platform to keep learning personalized, with voice, choice, pace, place, path. (More to come on that later too!)
